The Art of Mixing Life: Creating Your Unique Recipe
Mix it up. Blending all the ingredients creates something that doesn’t even closely resemble the individual components as they stand alone. Using creativity in all areas of your life and allowing the blend to fully meld is key to creating new experiences and events. Just as you may love a certain dish, you wouldn’t want to eat it for every meal. Doing anything over and over becomes boring and unexciting. Your life is the same, so mix it up a bit.
Add new, different, or exotic flavors to your palette to create unique experiences. This doesn’t mean you have to throw out every area of your life; just add new ingredients in the form of experiences, people, places, or things to make each and every dish—or experience, as we’re referring to in this analogy—different and exciting. Sometimes you may experiment, and the result may not be to your liking, but how would you know if you didn’t try? Give it a shot, and if you like it, save it for another time. Like any good recipe, you’d want to refer back to it.
The same goes for memories. You can store them for retrieval at a later date. Just like a recipe, it doesn’t have to be made the exact same way again. You can spice it up as you wish. With memories, you have the ability to recall them however you like. It may not be exactly as it was, but you can remember it and make it as you would like it to have been.
Your memories are your choice, which is why each account in history, if recalled by different individuals who witnessed the same event, will reflect different experiences or interpretations. It doesn’t make one account wrong or more right; it is simply how the holder recalled it. Everyone has their own story or perspective, and others get to choose which resonates with them. Life, recipes, and memories are all the same. Everything is as you want it to be. You are the creator of all, and in this case, the master chef, the really good cook. Choose your ingredients and have fun creating!
