The Luggage of Attention

Just because you’ve turned your attention toward something else, it does not mean that what you had been focused on ceased to exist. It continues—but not for you. It may as well have never been, and will never be. Your attention is the gift of light to subjects and things.

It is relatable to the saying: If a tree falls in the woods with no one there to hear, does it make a sound? Not if you’re not there to observe. Observation makes it so. Giving your attention makes it so.

Not like the ostrich with its head in the sand—it is not hiding from one thing, but seeking another. What you put your attention on will grow and expand. So focus on things that you want to flourish. Is it nature, and the beauty held within, like the seed of a flower or the cell of a honeycomb that will produce honey?

Life is as sweet or bitter as you want, only fueled by your focused attention. Does the bee stop producing when you’re not looking? Or beauty discontinue? No—but it may lie dormant from your perspective.

Pick up the luggage you wish to carry so that when you open it at your desired destination, it will be the clothes and opportunities that you want to wear, rather than things that don’t fit or are ill-cared for—old and not useful to you at this stage of your revolution and evolution.

Keep going and seeking—seeking that which brings you joy, and only that. Does a child focus on all the ills of the world, or does it play in the sand with friends?

You can be, do, and have all—motivated and informed through your feeling, attention, and focus. Choose and use your internal zoom feature to retract and tune in to that which you’d like to examine. Then look for more that brings you pleasure rather than pain.

Linger only when you feel good from and about. There is always something that brings you the feeling of goodwill to be found.
