Step off the Path

Breaking away from the pack, stepping off the well-worn path, is and will always be beneficial for you. Even for a moment, a speck of time, a breath. The allowing of yourself to free-float, to rise above your current situation, to shift perspective and therefore your reality, is but a breath—a pause—away.

The unstructured Yes, the allowing of you to be you rather than following the tail of the cattle in front of you, the continuous plodding in the rut or path carved by many others prior to you, may seem the easiest. But in reality, it requires effort to remain in that spot. Not effort of the mind, because your mind analyzes, sorts, catalogues, and wants to put things in order like a Rubik’s Cube. All things want to line up as set forth by the one who built it—the one who stepped out of the line and wandered free initially.

Your being, the whole of you, is calling ever so softly, like a whisper in the breeze, that there is always more. More than you think about. It is what tickles your emotions, excites your engine, or awakens the childlike feelings you had when in your most fun play. Whether it was hanging upside down from a monkey bar or digging in the dirt, communing with insects, that feeling—that call to do exactly as your being desires—is the whisper to follow now.

Now, while you’re alive. Now, while you’re still with your breath. Now. Never too late. There is always another chance. Every breath opens possibilities and freedom.

Follow the whim, the tickle, the fantastical idea without shutting the door on each presented possibility. Float to another layer, another realm of reality—even in the same step. Veer off the path, remove any blinders, and float freely into your now, your current, your own flow of life. You’ll always be a little freer, a little happier than the previous step. It only takes the first step to set you on a path of wonder.
