Dismantle the Dam: Allowing Flow
Breathe yourself into neutrality and into a place of no resistance each waking moment. By intentionally using your breath and consciously inhaling and exhaling continuously for 25 to 30 cycles, you will reach a vantage point or higher perspective that allows many tributaries of thoughts to flow to and through you. Your inspiration, not only from your breath, will become more evident, as if you are sitting on a cloud, surveying all below.
This vantage point enables you to feel your way into your day, your experiences, and your desires, akin to using a zoom feature and pinching in or out on the screen of life. Zoom in or focus on as much detail as you’d like, as long as it feels good to do so, then flow in that direction. Your focus determines which stream of thoughts you connect with, and there are many to choose from that will provide you with the most satisfaction. Ease into your day, your week, your life in this way, only to the extent that it feels right.
As soon as you encounter any other feeling in your body—such as twinges or holding your breath—it is your signal to adjust ever so slightly to continue flowing freely. Trust your signals by being aware; they may lead you down a path that isn’t clear to you. Follow this path with no agenda or planned outcome. This approach takes you off your track of repetitive needs or routines. The standard habits that may seem necessary could indeed be keeping you from all that you desire.
Follow your intuition, embrace the feelings, and allow nothing—neither blocks nor excuses—to keep you from it. It may seem foreign to you at first, but all things are possible if you have not yet practiced your knowing. Start with the smallest steps and trust the process. What you fear is far better than remaining stuck in a rut or barely moving. Movement is flow, dislodging the debris of habits and "should-do's" from your moment. Your day will begin the loosening process—trust that.
This is the way to flow: release the brake, put down the umbrella, and enjoy the adventures that await you.
