Out on a Limb, onto the Course

That phrase can sound negative or even scary—being out ahead of the fray, apart from the masses. But in truth, going out on the limb provides a clearer, more satisfying view. Rather than staring at the backs of strangers or being lost in the thick of the crowd, here you can see your way clear—feel your way clear.

With your internal sonar, your built-in antennae, your guidance system, you will always find yourself exactly where you’re meant to be at any moment in time. There is no need to berate yourself for where you are or how you got there—that only impedes your steps back toward where you are headed.

Your path begins precisely where you stand. You are always rerouted to the best path—toward your desires, toward the voice calling you home, toward resonance with your true character.

In the game of life, you may not have been placed neatly at the starting point of the board, where the path is clear step by step. Perhaps you’ve landed in the sand pit, or somewhere far from the fairway. But isn’t that part of the fun? Finding your way back to the green, back to the place you know is waiting for you?

If you only wanted to stay on the green, you’d play the child’s game where no mistakes can be made. But you chose the full course. You chose to carry your own clubs, to ride when you want, to swing and miss and try again. It’s all part of it.

Enjoy each swing. Enjoy figuring it out. Even the strokes above par belong.

The joy is in the playing.

Enjoy the game.
