Captain of your Own Flow

Begin to notice how your body is reacting or feeling to everything you are experiencing, and you will begin to gain reign over your emotions as though they were valves on a faucet.

Not to prevent or suppress—but to actually change and flow toward the direction and feeling that you prefer.

Imagine hearing news or being near information that stirs somatic sensations within your body.

Recognize them, breathe around them, and regulate your own flow without reacting.

When you allow yourself to come to a boiling point—building pressure before releasing it—or worse, withhold the release and store it inside your body, the result is imbalance.

The first scenario is like the top blowing off a pressure cooker: the contents explode, landing on walls and windows that you later must clean, though remnants remain unseen.

The second scenario is when those unexpressed contents integrate into your internal system, causing you to close off, numb out, or disconnect from your natural flow.

Neither approach supports your system or your surroundings.

Instead, put on some music. Step outside. Breathe fresh air.

Recognize the small nuances of your bodily notifications and adjust intentionally and often, tuning your system to stay afloat—always above the fray.

You have the ability to access this awareness through continuous check-ins—first intentionally, then automatically—adjusting to the currents you encounter. Like a life preserver, you will stay afloat through rough seas and continue your enjoyment.

Situations arise that allow you to practice and master your feelings. Use those times as play, as opportunities to test your abilities.

Make it a game, rather than being ignorant or oblivious to your own control systems.

You are the captain of your ship—your own life preserver.

Relax, and enjoy.
